In Wordfence, I am getting blocking errors from attempts to run wp-cron and Wordfence sync from my hosting server IP address. The live traffic messages say “was blocked for Manual Block by Administrator”, but the IP address is not in the blocked list and there is a button option to “Block IP”, so I know it is not manually blocked. I searched older messages and have also checked Brute Force and Rate Limiting options and they are not the reason. I checked the “How does Wordfence get my IP” and they do match. How do I find what is causing this and how to remove the block?

Hi @fredurble, thanks for detailing your issue.

The Manual block by administrator message normally means the IP making the request has been manually blocked in Wordfence > Blocking. By this I mean the message isn’t related to a firewall rule or Brute Force/Rate Limiting setting catching it.

As you mention IP detection being correct and not blocking that specific IP on its own, I would check the blocking page mentioned above and ensure you’re not blocking a range of IP addresses manually, or even mistakenly blocking an IP from your host, one used by a plugin, or even in some cases your own site’s IP. If you have nothing at all on that page, or have removed blocks during testing and it doesn’t help, let us know

    Thanks,
    Peter.
