I’m not sure what is going on, but all of our sites were disconnected from Dropbox, and changed to ‘manual’ due to the cURL issue. I just noticed today, that for the past 3 days my sites have decided to auto-backup themselves to the server. I am the only admin. I just checked the plugin setting again, and it’s set to manual. Any idea what is causing this?

    Hi there,

Could you install WP Crontrol and check the cron events for entries with the name ‘updraft’?
If there are still scheduled events for file and database backups you could then delete them.

    Best regards,

    Nick

@nrobertsudp, Thank you. Delete all of these?

    Hi there,

Just a question to confirm my understanding before deleting the cron events.
You’re not currently running scheduled backups – correct?

The reason I ask is the schedule appears to still be in place in the cron events.
With no remote storage selected (or available) when it runs it will save locally.

Meaning the backups made by the schedule will be left on the website server.
If the backups are being run manually you can remove the two cron events:

    updraft_backup
    updraft_backup_database

This should prevent the scheduled events running and prevent server backups.

    Best regards,

    Nick

@nrobertsudp, Prior to the ‘cURL’ issue, all of my sites auto-backed up to Dropbox. My host is concerned with adding the cURL ‘fix’ due to security issues he read about. As a result, I’ve been manually backing up the sites to the server. So, yes, I do want to have them continue to backup to the server. Please advise which cron jobs I should delete. Thank you! Here are screenshots of my settings.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the additional info. I just want to make sure I provide the correct advice.
With no schedule set and using manual these two cron jobs should not be present:

These cron jobs can be removed:

    updraft_backup
    updraft_backup_database

Do you want to store your backups on your server and apply your retention limit?

If so go to Settings >> Expert settings >> Delete local backup, uncheck the box.
After this you should click the ‘Save Changes’ button before you leave the page.

I hope this info is helpful. Please ask if you have questions or I wasn’t fully clear.

    Best regards,

    Nick

@nrobertsudp, thank you. Once I return to auto-backing up to Dropbox, will these two cron jobs be recreated (if I delete them now)? If so, good ??

    Hi there,

Thank you. Yes, when you set a new schedule with Dropbox the settings should be regenerated.
Even I forget to click ‘Save Changes’ sometimes, remember to do it as it’s a very important part.

    Best regards,

    Nick
