OK I did that (uncheck moderation) and something strange happened:
I received at the same time, the author email (as usual) and the PREVIOUS guest’s notification – but not the latest one yet…

I posted a comment with previous guest about 1 hour ago and now I received the notification at the absolute same time stamp (hh:mm) as the author notification for the new message. But not yet the new guest’s notification (not in spam either)!

I’ll not be able to reply anymore today here, so I’ll wait and see what happens tomorrow, and whether there is a delay with sending notifications.

    Ok, thank you John,
Your comments were very helpful for checking this issue.

    No problem, you are welcome!

PS: to make things more difficult, another option that would be welcome in the future would be to be able to subscribe to a discussion without commenting…

Not that I’m asking too much but I just try to image all possible scenarios.

    Sounds good!

    Hi there,

I’ve just done an initial test with moderation option switched on.
A new (non registered) user posts a comment and checks all 3 subscription options.

    Result:
    – no one received an email notification about this comment: the user or the admin (and nothing in spam box either)
    – after publishing the comment, there is no warning stating that “your comment is held for moderation” or something similar.

Besides that, it would be better to have the subscription options expanded when posting for the first time.

    Hi John,
Something really strange going on your server. It seems there are lots of problems with your hosting service email server. Please try to use wpDiscuz on other hostings and you’ll see that all works fine.
I remember such an issue with GoDaddy shared hosting. those emails are being sent in one day. I think you got a similar hosting service.
wpDiscuz works fine, and it’s already tested on dozens sites, so please if you still have problem try to change your hosting service (if wpDiscuz so important for your website).
We have nothing to fix regarding to this issue. This is not a wpDiscuz problem.

OK, I’ll wait a bit but last time the problem was different.
This site is hosted at Hostgator and I never had such issues with emails there.

Maybe the problem is because this site is running on Multisite installation?

Also, I’d recommend totally remove wpDiscuz and install it again.

    1) Deactivate and delete plugin
    2) Go to database, find wp_options table, in option_name column:
    – search for “wc_options” key. Then remove this row.
    – search for “wc_plugin_version” key. Then remove this row.
    3) Remove those tables:
    – wp_wc_email_notify
    – wp_wc_phrases
    – wp_wc_users_voted
    4) install wpDiscuz again

Maybe the problem is because this site is running on Multisite installation?

As far as I remember all our fixed things and added new features don’t work on your website. So I thing the problem on your end, it may be the multisite installation too. We’ll test on that as well.

Did that but getting same results.
Will update this post if something appears in coming hours/days.
    Thanks.

Sorry, nothing happens, definitely not working at my site.

    (@dsl225)

Thanks, but I already stated here previously that this site is hosted at Hostgator and it doesn’t have any other issues with system email sending.

The things that don’t work are clearly stated here above as I took the time to test all interactions and report the issues to you.

I can’t give you admin access at this time because we are currently testing other functions at this site but I’ll follow-up your plugin’s evolution and see what happens in the future.

    Best.

    OK, noted, thanks.

    Hi,

Can I jump in here or do I need to do a separate thread? I have the same issues as John and I have your latest version of WPDiscuz 2.09.

Everything seems to work fine, but when we subscribe and tick to be notified of comment updates, no notifications are being received in any shape or form and definitely not by email, when there is a reply to a comment. I did have moderate comments on but approved all comments and it still doesn’t work. I’ve tried on different browsers and with different email addresses and my family have tried from different pcs.

I am hosting with Siteground https://www.helenajohnson.net if that makes a difference, but as per John all my other emails get through fine. I have got live update switched off as recommended for shared hosting.

    Thanks
