you should probably be using multisite

Awesome! that is what I thought initially … I wanted to double check with the experts … I will do that … thank you for the reply!

If I am reading the above thread correctly, I have a restaurant chain with 6 locations. If I want to have each restaurant be able to have meals ordered to their specific location, I would need the multi-user site, and contact information for each of those locations, and setup sites such as

    domain.com/northeast
    domain.com/southwest
    domain.com/uptown

Each of those locations would share the common core configurations, with food items, payment gateway etc, but when the order is placed for the food, it is routed to the proper location.

Am I understanding this to be correct?

    Thank You.

Hi dachtera, yes, you are correct. With the little difference that in my project, the listed restaurants are not necessarily all of them from a chain, but they can be from different brands or names. Something like this site: https://boca.deliverydudes.com/

Now my question is: Is it possible to have a user order from different restaurants:
    domain.com/restaurant1
    domain.com/restaurant2
    domain.com/restaurant3
and having the shopping cart to display the orders from all the restaurants all at once on the right column, so when user checks out, it pays for all the food in one shot? sort of like a global menu for all the sub-sites?

    Thank you

    Right,

My goal is to order from your local ‘pizza place’ near your house and that pie shop gets your order, vs. the one across town, or a global order page that is checked by all chains. I’ll give this option a try, with the multi-site.

not sure what it is you are trying to do exactly, but if all of your restaurants have the same menu and same opening times and are generally the same only in different locations this might help you (without having to mess around administer the same thing multiple times)

    https://www.wp-pizza.com/downloads/wppizza-delivery-by-postcode/

    (read the bit under ==note==)

if however all your restaurants *are* different, then multisite is the way to go

(just saying – really not sure what your setup is / requirements are exactly)

essentially what I’m saying is: if ALL of your restaurants are *really* the same (but just in different locations) , multisite is overkill (never mind that you will have to update every single “subsite” if one menu item changes …

anyway, just my 2 cents, you can of course do what you like

I got it! I basically needed a global shopping cart across all sub-sites of the WP MS installation! I found the setting on the wppizza->settings. I am a little embarrassed now. Thanks!

Thanks ollybach, Guess I do not need the multi-site, just reconfigure the order form cheat that is listed in the postal-code plugin.

Think of 5 chains, in 5 cities.. common menu to all, but 5 locations to pick up, or get delivery from, so each needs to have its own contact email address the order is routed to. I’ll experiment. Thanks.
