Hi @kiwihawk, I will be glad to help.

The first step here is to check for conflicts, deactivate all your plugins except NextGEN Gallery, then try again, if the issue is gone, reactivate one plugin at a time and test after each until you find the culprit, then please let me know so I can try to replicate and see if it may be a specific setting in that plugin breaking things and report the issue to the developers.

    Thanks.

I have done as you suggested and it doesn’t help. There appears to be no conflict from other plugins.
Strangely though…. on a test site with just WordPress, the same theme, and NextGEN loaded, everything works as it should.

    Hi @kiwihawk,

You can try using Docket Cache plugin and then flush both OPcache and Object Cache. See if that helps.

Then, you can also rollback to NextGEN 3.41 and see if that fixes the issue.

    Please keep me posted.

Docket Cache made no difference sorry. And have already wound back to 3.41.
I’m going to try and replicate the entire website, on a test site, adding plugins and themes bit by bit, and checking NGG after every little change to see what if anything makes a different.
Frustrating and a lot of work ??

    Hi @kiwihawk,

It may also be worth trying to use a different browser or the same browser’s incognito window, since there are cases when such problems are caused by one of the site’s active add-ons.

Thanks @mihai Ceban, that seems to be where the problem lies. I use Chrome as my browser of choice. When I went into Incognito mode, drag and drop worked exactly as it should.
So what do I do now to have a permanent fix?

    Hi @kiwihawk

You would have to test your browser extensions and see if one is the cause, incognito mode will remove all of them.

This is what I have found. Chrome messes with the backend in particular the ability to drag and drop. But works as it should on the frontend.

Edge works great on the backend but makes a lot of the text disappear on the frontend, in particular comments.

Firefox works on both the frontend and the backend. But is a very slow browser.

Incognito works on both the frontend and the backend.

So, yes, I will investigate the browser extensions with Chrome and see what happens.

    Woohoo!! Found the solution.
The conflict was with a Chrome extension called Enable Copy 6.1
Removed the extension and full functionality returned.

Thanks very much for all the help. So appreciated.

    Hi @kiwihawk,

Great news, and thanks for sharing the extension’s name that was causing the trouble.
