• I currently use MAMP for designing a website. A friend of mine has requested a redesign of her current website in WordPress. I’d rather do it offline as I don’t have much time to do it these days and dont want to disrupt the current site. Can you do more than one website offline on MAMP and if so, how?

  • Yes – just install WP in different sub-dirs off your main web root. I’m currently running at least 3 different sites/installs on my local server.

Thank you. I already have WordPress installed through MAMP via..

    /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/wordpress

How would I create sub-directory without upsetting whats already offline?

Install the second site in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/wp2?

Just did that. I’ve downloaded the template I want to use, so do I need to start new database? Also is there a help forum for MAMP?

do I need to start new database?

I normally do but you don’t have to. You an re-use the same database as long as you give the tables in the new install a different prefix via wp-config.php

Also is there a help forum for MAMP?

There will be some general MAMP forums somewhere.
