Wordfence has also give me some potential malware warnings in a plugin and a theme. On all cases is a bit.ly url.

All I know is bitly.com is a shortener url service.

Any clarifying info, very much appreciated.

I’m getting warnings on my own bit.ly links, links that I created and I know are valid.

There is no way that every post on the list Wordfence just spat at me contains links to a malware site. They’re older links & to multiple sites–and the ones I’ve checked are bit.ly links.

However–I’d like confirmation & some idea of what is going on, please.

    I can confirm this also.

WordFence alerted me today to critical “Post contains a suspected malware URL” issues on client sites for tons of valid bit.ly links (going to respected sites like Wall Street Journal).

I’ve got a same problem, but I found that Google blocked bitly links

Interesting to hear your responses, guys!
I am no tech teacher so I wonder how somone can insert a code into a .po file on my site..?
Guess that also means there is some security vulnerability with the site.

Google is not blocking my bit.ly links.

Looks like the issue has been resolved. Google Safebrowsing had marked all Bitly links as possible unsafe malware sites. WordFence uses the information from Google when scanning the contents of files. If Google thinks a link is bad then WordFence will generate a warning. There was a tweet from Bitly early saying the issue had been resolved.

    Thanks for the update Jamas!

    Hi
I do not think this has been resolved as a scan a few hours ago threw up this message. One major question I have is if you take the remove option does it affect the wordfence / wordpress plugin and cause problems?
By the way I love the wordfence plugin.
    thanks
    Colin

    Jamas speaks the truth ??

Here’s a brief article explaining it:

    Thanks @haveonelikethis!
