• On the cart/myaccount pages and etc, there is a popup element to enter card information that does not tie into my payment processor (Square).

I have not made any changes to the website in a long time and discovered this. I have not added plug-ins or anything at all. To try and remedy the issue by disabling all plug-ins, the issue persisted, I tried restoring to old backups from before my knowledge of this issue existing and the same card info popup keeps coming. I believe it is malware and have no idea where to find/edit/delete this thing. I’ve tried different themes as well and it is still there.

From inspecting an the element with web inspector I see that it was made using swal2 (SweetAlert) and there’s something about “forge”.

I can get it to go away by pressing “submit” but I fear people believing this is my payment processor when everything should really be processed through Square.

This is all so confusing and I have no idea what could be causing it. What should I be looking for? Help please.

  • I’m a novice, but I know there are some firewall and anti virus plug ins that might be able to scan your site and block intrusions if you don’t already use them.

Some of the WP quality/speed check sites might also include virus scanners, but I don’t know for sure.

“WordFence” is a great plugin. It’ll compare your website to a fresh download of WordPress code to see if anything is modified. It also scans all posts, plugins, themes, etc for malware.

See what it comes up with and let us know if you need any more help!
