Making WordPress site more private

    I’ve chosen for my site to be private, visible only to users I choose in general settings. I only want select friends to access the WordPress site. What does this mean? How does it really make the site more private?

    Is it possible to password protect a WordPress site via some kind of Plugin if I really want to make it private?
