Making visited links hover?

Is this possible? I thought I did it before, but it doesn’t seem to work. Failing that, I would like to remove the visited link value and leave it as hover. However, removing the visited link attribute makes the link revert to non-styled links.

Anyone know why this might be? Would a:visted a:hover {} work?
