Making the website live

I’ve been designing pages and testing WordPress with an extension …/wordpress and it works fine. Now I want to make the site live, but if I change the URL to the website name (without …/wordpress), I can’t access anything anymore and no page shows. What else do I need to do to get the site live? I read something about a root directory that all files have to be placed in, but I can’t find that directory in my CPanel. I hope someone can help. Thanks!
