• I’m thinking of starting a book review website. I am already posting on self help articles in English. Now I will do review in English and Hindi. But I want to ask a few questions

    1. I will have all authority pages (like home, about, contact us) in English. Only book review will be in both English snd hindi, so will it create any problem?

    2. I will make different different pages for hindi and english content with content translated from English to hindi. So will it rank?

    3. Also should I use href lank? If yes, how should I add it or where can I gain all knowledge about it.

will there be any negative effect? Is this approach good? You wanna recommend anything with your experience.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Consider using a multilingual plugin to help you.

If you prefer to custom code a solution, you can use the “locale” filter to switch language locales. Be sure the Hindi language pack is installed on your site even though the language setting remains English. By doing so, all translatable UI elements in WP can be translated automatically.

You can use the “language_attributes” filter to alter the lang attribute of a page’s <html> tag.

Use the “bloginfo” filter to alter a page’s charset attribute.

Assuming each page, English or Hindi, has its own unique canonical URL, I would expect each page to rank in search engines as they normally would in a single language site. But I’m not a SEO expert, I could be wrong. I don’t see any downside to having some Hindi language pages on your site as long as the above HTML attributes are addressed.
