Making multiple 301 redirects to the same url

  • I changed the url of a page to my website and created a 301 redirect. Two days later I realized that the change that I made to the url was not correct so I made another change and created another 301 redirect.

    Is this going to confuse Google? Will the latest redirect be properly indexed? Should I remove the page entirely and start over?

  • Are the redirected URL and the URL to which you redirect the same? If the latter is different every time you make changes, I don’t think it is a very nice way to go about it.

    What do you mean it’s not a very nice way to go about it. I had to make a url change and unfortunately I made a mistake the first time so I changed the url once again and did another redirect.

    Example:
    URL 1 redirected to a new URL 2
    URL 1 redirected to a new URL 3
    URL 1 redirected to a new URL 2 or any other URL
    Search engines pick up the changed URLs every time you redirect and index them. So the frequent back and forth changes can affect the ranking/ SERP of the URLs.

    The question I asked previously is not the same. This is an entirely different question. I’ll find an SEO forum or someone else who can better answer my question.
