    Hi everyone,

After having editted some existing themes to my likings, I want to try to create a WordPress theme from scratch. I already bought the ebook “How to be a WordPress Rockstar” a couple of months ago , which I have taken a look in really quickly. It looked promising, but the book was written in 2008, and I’m afraid that it is a bit outdated by now.

Do you think the same? Or can you suggest me other sources to learn to theme from scratch in WordPress?

codex.www.remarpro.com gives you everything you need and then some.

Also, these boards and Google helps a lot with specific questions.

Thanks for your replies, I looked at the Codex before, when I was editting themes, and it provides some really useful info; though it doesn’t really go in depth in creating a theme as a beginner. The eBook I referred to does do that, but I am worried about the fact that its from 2008. Do you think that in the case of WordPress this is a real problem? Or didn’t that much change from the core of WP?

A great deal has changed within WordPress core since 2008! I’d strongly recommend ditching the book and using the Codex.
