• Hi,

I’m trying to find out how I ccould make a particular page show up as a regular blog.

I am using WordPress as a basis for a website and not as blogging software as such.

I’d like to have a “News” page where i can blog what is happening in my company.

I’m using “static front page” and nothing but pages so far.

Is there some way of putting a statement in the page template so that when a particular page id is displayed it shows up with “the loop”?

I’m not really a web-designer – i just tinker and persevere until it works so i’ll do my best to understand the technical speak!

The site’s https://www.4x4english.com/private if you want to have a look.

    Thanks and best wishes,

  • Wouldn’t be simpler to just make the “news’ a category; hide it from the main page and use a category template to display the posts in that category?

And BTW, Page templates do have a Loop it just works differently – does NOT display multiple posts because… well, because it’s a Page ?? Pages are meant to display 1 (one) content.

(I have also done many installations for non-blog like usage and nothing works better than a combination of Pages/Page Templates, Category templates, special “archives” templates etc. Without forcing WP to do anything extraordinary.

    Hi Moshu,

My problem is that I started setting up the site before I knew anything about WordPress. I have been making it up as I go along. I don’t even read blogs! I honestly don’t know now what a category is or how it works.

I am starting a new company with all that that entails and I’m doing the website myself as I am the cheapest person that I could think of!

The problem is that I have no time to start again with a different design. I really just want to be able to make one of my pages behave like the typical front page.

Would I be able to put a link to a category in the same way as I can for a page?

I just don’t want to have to change too much of what I already have in place.

Thanks a lot for the reply,

    Joe Parkin
