    Hi,

Thought Id give this plugin a try out, and ran into problems within five minutes.

I was in the ‘updates’ section – where it says to update a plugin manually, ‘enable auto updates and save settings then come back to this page’.

So I did exactly that – no option to update manually was found – so I thought I’d try the ‘disable auto updates’ option.

I got a database error, which wouldn’t go away until I disabled the plugin through my hosting panel.

Hardly a good start from Clearfy, and their joke of an official ‘fast free support’ forum gives worse support than in the WordPress one.

I really wanted to see what Clearfy was all about, so come on guys, get the proverbial finger out!

  • I use Clearfy over 15 websites and works fine.
I leave the enable auto-updates off since I use another plugin to manage from MainWP.

Yep, thats what I wanted to do – I would’t want any plugin to update my plugins for me.

However as seen above, I never got that far.

Regarding the above problem, and the one on Clearfy’s really really fast support forum, don’t bother.

I simply cannot work with support as bad as this no matter what the plugin does, or doesnt do.

Sorry, we are really late with the answer.

I would glad to help you solve the problems. Or at least you can help us to detect the cause of the error.

Please copy the error message you received. If you do not see it now, the message may be recorded in the php error log on your hosting.

Regarding update modes (plugins and themes):

For disable auto-updates for all plugins just select manual updates on Updates general tab.

Plugins tab in Update manager for case when you allow auto-update for plugins, but you want to exclude some of them.

Right ok then, we’ll give it another try.

Before I go ahead and install it though:

I’m already using ‘Robin Image Optimiser’ and the ‘Hide Login Page’ plugins that come bundled in with Clearfy.

Should these be deactivated and deleted prior to installing Clearfy?

Usually this is not required. But let’s delete these plugins for clarity.

Right then – I realised that the Hide Login plugin, and the Robin Image Optimiser plugin need to be installed anyway, so no problems there.

I also found the ‘Manual Updates’ option for plugins, so all seems good so far – or does it?

Going down the ‘Quick Start’ options – those settings that are perfectly safe to use – I checked my website after enabling the first two options (of around 10 ‘safe’ options), and found that they were so safe that my website content had disappeared – no doubt to make it run incredibly fast.

Disabled Clearfy, and let out a huge sigh of relief to see that the content had returned.

So I reckon that Clearfy is not for me, but the two plugins that it enabled can stay as they’re not directly a part of Clearfy.
