make wp-login the landing page *without* forcing login

Hi,

I want the ‘landing’ page – ie the first page people come to – to be the login page. But, I don’t want to force people to login to see the site, it’s just to nudge them into logging in without forcing them. My custom login page has a menu bar, so they can choose to browse the site without logging in if they want.

All the posts about this seem to involve redirecting unlogged-in users to the login page and keeping them there until they’re forced to log in, which doesn’t help me at all. Nor do I want the login page to be home page. I just need it to be the *first* page people encounter when they come to the site.
