make tables with fixed width and hight

right now if we make tables with multiple columns and alot of data (especially with fields which may contains description) it gets so cramped that the data become very cramp like in the photo below
https://postimg.org/image/3q1wu4zmx/but if it were possible to fix the column with and row height it would be a life saver (i have no problem with horizontal scrolls coming into play) to make the data look like in the photo below

please let me know if any of it is possible or is there an other way for me to properly show my table
(fyi this table has 17 columns with a description column hosting up to 500 to 1000 words per cell)
