Make short description default meta

    Hi, how do I make Product Short Description as the meta description by default as well as change all the already existing products to use Short Description as the default meta description for search engines?

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

    This is the order we follow to generate meta descriptions for WooCommerce products or product categories:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-set-product-meta-description/#how-product-meta-description-is-selected

    Unless you have added a custom description in Rank Math, then your Product Short Description will be prioritized.

    If you have added custom descriptions to your products, then you may need to remove those manually from your products.

    However, with Rank Math PRO, you can remove them in bulk using the CSV feature:

    Hm, the reason I ask is because I noticed a product have a meta description where it showed the long line of full price and discounted price as the meta tag, which I have definitely not done on purpose. Prices are not part of SEO descriptions or short descriptions, yet that’s what I saw.

    Hello @heggyy,

    On the products that you saw this behavior, what was the SEO description added via our snippet editor on the product?

    If you saw those values in the code it’s likely that you have added the description there instead of relying on the product’s short description.

    In case you are seeing this behavior only on Google Search, that might be because Google is modifying the product meta description and this is something that is usually to better align with the user search intent.
