    Hello

My goal is to create a single woocommerce site that can serve as both a catalog and a online portal to buy products. We run a B2B distribution company

The reason is that while we have a catalog with many projects, we do not actually keep them all in stock. Only the ones that we sell. The others are special order items.

The idea is that when a person browses through the web site and they are not logged in, they see a full list of what we have available. This means available, not necessarily in stock.

When logged in, the client sees only what we have available for order. No special order items, or at least there will be a note on the product saying to contact us for availability.

Thanks for ideas. My idea was to make roles(general browser and client logged in) and make products visible or not visible according to the role.

    Hi @smokinjo,

Thank you for reaching out to WooCommerce support! We have an extension in our marketplace that could work wonderfuly for you. I’d like to invite you to take a look here: https://woocommerce.com/de/products/products-visibility-by-user-roles/. With this one you can configure visibility for products basing on roles or log in status.

Keep in mind, if you want to try our products, you can leverage our 30-day refund policy. In a nutshell, it gives you 30 days to try it out, and if the product doesn’t work the way you need or you think another product would work better, we are more than happy to offer a full refund. You’ll find the details of [our refund policy here](https://woocommerce.com/refund-policy/).

However, as an alternative, I’d suggest creating a catalog pague where you display all of your products in an informative way, and having the actual shop page show only the products available for purchase at the time.

Another option is to use the WooCommerce stock management feature to display your out-of-stock products as such. You can also configure backorders to avoid missing any sales! You can learn more here:?https://woocommerce.com/document/configuring-woocommerce-settings/products/#inventory. I think this is the most transparent option and less prone to confusion!

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers!
    -OP
