Make posts on homepage shorter

Hello,i have the “interpidity” theme,and i was wondering if i can make the posts on the homepage shorter,for example: if i make a post and put 4 pictures in it,is it possible that in the home screen of my website only 1 picture will be seen? so people will get in the post and read and maybe comments.
