• Is there a way that I can make certain posts appear on a different page instead of teh home page….or even move a post once it’s on the home page to a different page?

    Forgive me, I am a WP n00b. ??

I haven’t been able to find any posts on how to do this.

  • Not out of the box.

Use a plugin like Advanced Category Excluder (find it in the Extend > Plugins section) to exclude some categories from appearing on the main/home page.
They will be visible only on the category “page” – i.e. on category listing, when clicking on the category’s name.

Thanks so much for the help. I have a question though. the excluder shows 5 categories. How do I add categories? Also, I set up a 2nd page (write–>page) and I don’t see a way to force only certain posts to show up on that page.

Secondly, is there any plugin that will send an e-mail if a certain person posts on the blog?

    Thanks a ton!

Wrong approach. Pages are not for displaying posts. When clicking on a category name, all the posts from that category are displayed… and ONLY those. Which means, there is no need for your intervention and messing around with Pages!

You add categories in admin > Manage > Categories or while writing new posts.

Who can make posts on your blog besides you? Or did you mean comments? (don’t mix those)

I am building a blog site for my company, so the CEO, COO, upper management, etc, will be blogging. They each want to have their own section (buncha ego maniacs). That is what I am trying to accomplish.

They also want the blog to e-mail the entire company when they make a post. (big buncha ego manacs!!).

They might need to write their own blogging software… (send them here if you think they need some re-education = reality check!)

What you may try to do:
    a) make a separate category for each of those maniacs + use a static frontpage (see admin > Settings > Reading) to show a general ‘intro’ on the main page and show links to those categories
You can style all of them differently by using Category_Templates

    b) actually, WP has the feature to display all the posts of an author, so the static frontpage + links to those ‘author listings’ could be another approach, maybe even better…
