• The Genesis eNews Extended widget is used in a number of themes and is required to get the results shown in the demos.

Unfortunately, it has a poor user experience since everything is manual. Are there any plans to update this widget with something simple like a dropdown to choose an email provider and a box to add an API key?

As an example, OptinMonster allows simple integration with 10+ email services and allows custom integration via HTML for any it doesn’t support. It’s also GPL, so it may be a decent starting point since it performs the same function and has individual folders for each integration API making it easier to build on.

I understand this is a free plugin, but what would it take to at least get the major players added (MailChimp, ConstantContanct, Infusionsoft, etc.)? I’d be willing to contribute at least $100 myself, maybe more. I’m sure others would as well since so many rely on it. I’m sure StudioPress would as well since it’s required to get a website that’s true to the demo as advertised.

    Thoughts?

P.S. Keep up the great work.

I don’t disagree with your assessment. The roadmap includes adding API integration with MailChimp, etc.

Honestly, it isn’t a matter of money, but of time and not wanting to add too much weight to the plugin. Since setting these up is a one-time process per site, adding code to handle the API for each of the requested services would add some bulk (IMO) to the plugin that I’m not sure how justified it is (yet).

In other words, I’d still like to do it, but hasn’t been a pressing request.

    Cheers!

Makes sense, thanks for the reply Brandon.
