• HI! I am new to wordpress, and grateful for this support forum. Can you tell me please, how to setup my wordpress so that when the user opens mydomain.com/wordpress the first page is one they can post on?

    Right now they have to go to Categories>specific category>1 comment> and that takes them to a page they can post on. I would like to set up my wordpress so that the “home” or first page is one users can post on right away.

    Also, while I have the attention of you talented, experienced people, I have found plenty of posts about how to set my wordpress so that users comments need to be moderated before they appear, but I would like my users comments to appear right away, without moderation. Can you tell me how to set this please?

    Thank you so much!

  • I can answer the second question. All of the comment moderation options are in Options >> Discussion.

    Thanks jabecker. That worked great!

    Can anyone tell me how to make the first page opened the comments page? I have moderation and email off, so users can just quickly comment on my website and be on their way, without having to go to another page, etc. Appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

    Comments are always linked to one specific post, so by design WP displays the comments only on the single post view, i.e. when you click on the perma(nent)link of that post.

    Add this before the Loop

    $wp_query->is_single = true;

    will treat your index page as a single post page

    Aozora: Can you be more specific? Where is “before the loop”? And do you mean on index.php?

    Aozora: Never mind! I trialed and errored it until I found the right spot! It works! Many thanks.

    Oops! Aozora no it doesn’t. Can you be more specific? Thanks.
