I am a website novice. How do I make the events calendar visible to visitors to my site? CanI put a link on my homepage?

  • Hey @chakraology

    Thank you for reaching out.

As a new calendar user, you will want to check out this Knowledge Base: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/guide/the-events-calendar/

    Particularly this article: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/adding-a-calendar-link-to-your-site-menu/

Let us know how that goes!

Hello @chakraology, thanks for reaching out to us. No worries, we’re here to help.

If you only want to insert the link, you can update the Home Page under Pages → Home, and insert the link somewhere on the page. I’d suggest having it on your navigation to make it more visible on every page. You could reach out to your theme developer on how you could do that on their end.

Moreover, there’s a way to embed the calendar to your home page via shortcodes, however, this feature is only available with the Pro version of the events calendar.

    See the article here:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/embedding-calendar-views-with-the-tribe_events-shortcode/

Let me know if this helps.

    Best,

Geoff- that kinda helped. All I want is a link in the menu at the top of my page, alongside all the other links in the menu at the top of my page, that says “Calendar of Events”.

I was able to create an event category called “Calendar of Events” to get those words and that link where I want them but it seems like there should be a way to link to the calendar page-“mysite.com/events”- just like every other page on my site that appears in the menu.

    Hi @chakraology,

You can add a link to your Events archive page (the main Calendar page generated by the plugin) by using the Custom Links option.

Add /events (or the slug you’ve set up under Events > Settings > General > Events URL slug) into the URL field, and use the Navigation Label field for the text you’d like to display, for example: Calendar of Events.

You can see this in action in this screenshot.

If you don’t see the Custom Links option, check the Screen Options tab in the top right corner; it may be unchecked.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you,
    Erica
