• Hello,

I love the Editorial Calendar but I use a lot of custom fields, categories and such. Is it possible to make the Editorial Calendar go to the full “Add new post” editor instead of the quick post modal dialog?

    Thanks!
    Dennis

    Hello Dennis,

Thanks for using the Editorial Calendar. There are four options when you hover over a post in the calendar: Quick Edit, Edit, View, and Delete. The Edit link will take you to the full edit page for that post.

You could add a new post with the calendar, save it will just the title, and then click the edit link to go to the WordPress default edit page. It will take a couple of extra clicks, but that will let you edit with the custom fields.

Does that work for you? We could try to rework this in a future release.

    Thanks,
    Zack

    Hi Zack,

That’s what I’m doing now, but it’s a bit tedious and breaks a plugin of mine that removes the default “uncategorized” category and warns when no category has been entered. However, the modal dialog doesn’t do this, which causes issues for me.

It would be great if this could be implemented in a future release ??
It shouldn’t be too hard to make a plugin option parameter and an if statement that switches between full or modal editor.

    Thanks,
    Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

The problem here is that there isn’t a good way to send you to the default WordPress page with a specific post date selected using the WordPress public API. I can do a little more research and see if there is any way to make that work.

    Thanks,
    Zack
