    Hi,

I have found a strange problem with my plugin Private Messages from Astoundify, where private messages are not displayed in chronological order at my Live site.

However, I noticed this problem does not occur when I use your plugin to make a stage site of the Live site – no other changes made.

So now my consideration is if this provides you with any clues on what is the problem/how to fix it?

Or, if there’s any way to use the stage site to fix/replace the Live site?

    Thanks!
    Robin

    Hi @randaro

the main difference is that wp staging disables caching on the staging site by setting the CACHE constant to false.

It also disables permalinks on the staging site.

So, I recommend to check out if one of these settings could be causing your issue.

    Is possible, please see:https://wp-staging.com/migrate-wordpress-staging-site-to-production-site/

It also may be worth to ask the support of the Astoundify about this issue.

Hi Rene, thanks for a good and quick response!

I am using the same permalink settings at the stage and live sites.

I tried having my host verify the cache settings with me. They could “clear and disable” cache for me, but that didn’t solve the issue – where may I check/edit the CACHE constant setting manually?

I will look into migrating the stage site to live as well to see if that solves the issue.

    Thanks again,
    Robin

    Hi Robin

you find the CACHE constant in the wp-config.php of your staging site. You can edit this file by using FTP or any file manager plugin but honestly said I do not really think it is the culprit.

Did you already ask the plugin developer about the possible reason?

Would be great if you keep me updated about the issue, as it is a strange one.

Ok! I had a look in wp-config.php, and no CACHE constant existed there in fact.

Yes – I am having a conversation with them and will keep you posted on progress.

Another interesting note: while I find to make a new stage solves the problem – it does so only for new conversations I make. Previous conversations still look weird even at the stage site. Perhaps that provides with some new insights?
