Make a custom php page the homepage?

Hello,

I know the deal about choosing between ‘static’ and ‘blog’ homepages, but what I want to do is make my homepage a PHP page. In other words, I want a static page, but not a ‘WordPress page’ — a self-coded PHP page. Can this be done?
