When Cloudfront CDN is active, uploading and deleting images from the media library takes an extremely long time (15-30 seconds) and sometimes times out / fails. The image seems to upload correctly but WordPress shows a warning.

All of the images I tested were under 200KB, disabling the CDN makes the uploads fast again.

Looks like the issue is because of auto-purging… we have enabled the “Only Purge CDN manually” and that fixed it. We always purge the CDN manually anyways.

    Hello @chadreitsma

Thank you for reaching out and thank you for your feedback on this.
The “Only Purge CDN manually” will be enabled by default in future releases once the CDN type Cloudfront is selected.
The main reason for this is due to the huge bills that Autopurge can cause once the bulk of the images are uploaded
In the use case such as yours, and when the “Only Purge CDN manually” is not enabled, the CDN purged the cache after every image is uploaded.
    Thanks!
