Major SEO issues due to PolyLang plugin

  • I have AHrefs.com telling me there is an href tag pointed to the Spanish version of my page, but the Spanish version is non-canonical, which means it has a canonical tag pointing to another URL other than itself or not having one at all.

    Why? Isn’t the whole purpose of using this plugin to handle this?

    Here is a screenshot of settings for both pages. Am I missing something here?
