MainWP + Hide My WP Ghost = nothing works
-
Hello! I can’t use your MainWP plugins because I use Hide My WP Ghost for security. And if I have the /wp-admin/ path changed for safety, then MainWP does not work. this moeno how to fix it?

Hi @ukraine777
Can you please try an alternative plugin for changing the Admin path and see if that helps?
We’ve had occasional reports for some of the plugins, like the Hide My WP Ghost, causing a conflict with MainWP.And if you are using this plugin to secure your MainWP Dashboard only, please give our free extension Dashboard Lock a look.
It allows you to limit access to your wp-admin and even redirect non-wp-admin pages to a different site making your MainWP Dashboard virtually invisible.
I can’t use another plugin, only Hide My WP Ghost hides wordpress completely and can run in PHP FastCGI (Nginx + PHP-FPM) mode. can you combine your plugin and Hide My WP Ghost ?
Thanks for the update.
Would you mind opening a private Help Desk ticket so we can collect some additional information & investigate further?
I had to deprecate the MainWP plugin as it doesn’t allow you to hide wp-admin.
The authors of the MainWP plugin do not fix this problem for a long time, although you can make a setting in MainWP
giving their path my_admin-path=wp-admin, but they don’t. I chose security and opted out of the MainWP pluginthis problem is discussed here https://feedback.mainwp.com/plugins/mainwp-hide-my-wp-ghost-cl5qswl04338301zr8bdfyt52v but no one solves it for a long time
Changing the wp-admin path by itself does not impact the functionality of MainWP. In fact, changing it with the majority of plugins that offer that option works seamlessly with MainWP.
We will investigate what exactly causes issues when doing so with the Hide My WP Ghost, and see what can be done to work around the issue.
We’ve run some tests on our setup, and we didn’t observe any issues with MainWP functionality when the /wp-admin/ path was changed.
Can you please give us more information about your setup – do you have Hide My WP Ghost installed on both the Dashboard and the Child site, and what options do you have enabled?
And if you wish, please open a private Help Desk ticket so we can collect some additional information about your setup.
did you check it works on php 8.1 ? did you check it works in PHP FastCGI mode (Nginx + PHP-FPM) ? This problem is not only with me, everyone writes about it
Hi @maks131313,
We appreciate your feedback, but @bojankatusic already mentioned in your helpdesk ticket that MainWP still does not support PHP 8.1. At this point, we can’t troubleshoot issues on unsupported PHP versions.
(On a side note, we plan to implement 8.1 support soon, but I don’t have an exact ETA again.)
Also, I reviewed your helpdesk ticket, and we are still waiting for your feedback on the questions and instructions we sent.
Since you have a helpdesk ticket open, let’s not run this troubleshooting process in multiple channels, it just slows the process and makes it harder for all of us. If it’s ok, let’s continue in the helpdesk.
We will be sure to post our findings here once we figure out what is going on.
Thanks
nothing works for me with PHP FastCGI mode (Nginx + PHP-FPM) when will you fix it??? PHP version has nothing to do with it, doesn’t work on 8.1 doesn’t work on 8.0 doesn’t work on 7.4. You have tested on PHP FastCGI mode (Nginx + PHP-FPM). because of this I had to stop working with MainWP
Thank you for getting back to us.
As has been mentioned, PHP 8.1 is not fully supported by MainWP yet.
And since we couldn’t reproduce the issue with Admin path changing, please open a private Help Desk ticket so we can investigate the issue further.
thank you very much! now everything works.
“We have temporarily deactivated all plugin and reset the MainWP Child plugin settings. After that, we’ve removed the Child site from the Dashboard and re-added it again. After which we’ve re-enabled the Hide My WP Ghost plugin and turned on path changing.
Currently, the MainWP Dashboard appears to be working fine with all Change Paths enabled in Hide My WP Ghost plugin.”
@maks131313
Thank you for the update.
Perfect! We’re glad it’s working fine now.@ukraine777
If you are still facing the same issue, please open a private Help Desk ticket so we can investigate your setup further.Thank you for your patience.
We have tried to reproduce this issue for many days, but unfortunately, it simply does not occur in our setup.
We have tried using the path changing only available in the free version of the plugin and all the path changing that’s available in the Pro version. We have observed no issues with MainWP Dashboard functionality with either of those two plugin versions.
Additionally, we have tried changing all paths only on the child site and on both the Dashboard and the child site. We then used this Dashboard and Child site for many days testing other unrelated stuff – meaning, it was in daily use. And still, not once has the Child Site disconnected or shown any issues at all.
We must conclude that the issue is caused by a combination of some other factors and not just the Hide My WP Ghost plugin.
If you manage to isolate the additional factors that are causing this issue, please let us know, and we will investigate further.
