Maintenance Plugin Must Stay to Play Nice with Admin Bar Logout

The maintenance plugin must stay activated in the site to avoid errors while logging out from the drop-down admin bar plus on a Buddypress edit profile page. It will be redirected to the site login page (instead of homepage by default) with the following error message:
You must log in to access the page you requested.
and error url:
The error recurs when the plugin is deactivated or removed.
