Main Page Question

  • I am new to WordPress and I was hoping to get some solid advise. For the most part I have the page up and running. But the main page (index), or the page people first see, I want to look more like a webpage than a blog page. What I am basically trying to accomplish is having a banner with text description (sorta of like a welcome). I am able to do this on other pages by setting it to “Banner Page” under page attributes so they don’t have the option to reply or leave a comment like with a blog. But I don’t really see that option or at least where to modify the index/main page? at all. It seems that the main page is seen strictly as a blog entry.

    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

  • If you log into your site, go to the admin panel, select Settings->Reading, you will see an option to select what the front page displays.
