• So I loaded up my website today, and was greeted with a solid black screen. What’s strange is that it looks like it is attempting to link to am image that was on the main page a long time ago that no longer exists. I didn’t change anything in the theme or anything at all to be honest, and the rest of the website and posts look normal when I navigate to them through my control panel.

Any clue as to how I can get my main feed back on the front page?

  • Check your files, redirects etc.
This: https://bestthingyouneverhad.com/index.html should be displayed at https://bestthingyouneverhad.com/index.php (PHP!) but that redirects to a black hole…

Also, upgrade, in case that you suspect your site was compromised.

What exactly should I be checking for? I am unsure of where to look and what to change, since I didn’t change anything to begin with.

This is frustrating and I am contemplating just wiping everything, loading the new wordpress, and then restoring my SQL backup.

I would rather not, since I haven’t done any coding or tweaking in a long time, and finally had everything properly set up.

If somebody hacked your site… then uploading the same old database would result in the same sh*t.

Is there an index.html file at your root?
If yes, who put it there?
Why isn’t the index.php display properly? Is there any code in it that you did NOT put in there?

Contact your host to cjeck if the server has been hacked.
    Etc.
