Main page archive displaying different number of posts

Hey all,

I’m new to wordpress. I want my main page to display only 2 posts on the front page, with a link to an archive (the rest of the posts), which I have done, and set the number of posts to 2 in the settings, but how do I get more than 2 to show up on the archives page?
