• I have MultiSite (3.0.4) with BuddyPress (1.2.7) running and have run into a problem with the front page of the main blog
    https://mhs.myotus.com/blog/ redirects to here:
https://mhs.myotus.com/blog/2010/12/blogs/ which then gives a 404 error message.

Interestingly when I changed my front page display back to “Your latest posts” instead of a static page on my Reading Settings section my post feed showed up on https://mhs.myotus.com and not https://mhs.myotus.com/blog/

I suspect I may have broken it when I turned Permalinks off and and then on in effort to trouble shoot a minor issues. There was no problem at the time but when I deactivated my plugins that when all the trouble began.

I have tried to deactivate plugins and themes but so far with no effect. An going into > Super Admin > Sites it shows the path as “/” and not “/blog/” however I am unable to change it however, I am unsure if I should even try.

Ideas? Unfortunately I am running out of time and need to launch this site this week and move it from development to the “live” site.

Thanks in advance for advice and any help.

  • Either you have a page or post somewhere called blog, or there’s a plugin or rewrite rule (that someone added) interferring.

Thanks Andrea, That was what I suspected but there is no page or post named “blog” and it does not look like a plugin is the culprit. However, you got me thinking….
I created a page called “blog” and set the “Post page” to it. And what do ya know… it works! However, it is only a hack as the real problem still exists since the Blog”s” page is still pointing the main blog to the Front static page. https://mhs.myotus.com/blogs/
However, it does take a bit of pressure off for now as long as there are no hidden gotyas! with this hack.
