I’ve tried the no link procedure but it does not work for me.

    1. Create custom link with top Menu name
    2. add # to URL
    3. add to menu and save
    4. open custom link and remove # and save again.

It worked once and then came back. Today it worked once but then next time came back. Now I cannot make it work.

Anyone know why? This is a common need an should be easy.

  • Hi

This is the method I use as well so it could be theme/plugin related in your particular circumstance.

    A few suggestions:

Use javascript: void(0); instead of the # , please update this post if this solution works for you.

Alternatively you can also use css to disable the link and target the top level navigation. Read up on this here:

    All the best!

Yes it does work as above with javascript:void(0); I did not know how custom link worked. I thought it referred to Menu item already defined so defined another one with same name and that is why I had the problem. Once I defined my menu item with custom link instead of without it, I could make the top menu name go no where when clicked. Makes sense now that I understand how custom link menu works to direct that menu item to a page you chose instead of the page with the same name.
