    Hi,

I have a setup with 1 album and several galleries under it.

I just noticed a problem on the main photo-album page: the name of the first gallery is shown in text (“Nazareth’s Souq”) above the gallery boxes, that is, immediately below the WP page name (“Photo Galleries”). I tried to create a new album page and the same happened, so the error is not some sort of hidden text on the WP page.

    Here’s the page: https://www.jonathan-cook.net/photo-galleries/

I know that I’m using a legacy template… “legacy: album-extend.php under the Basic Compact Album settings.

BUT, when I switch to the “default” the text describing the galleries (for each gallery) disappears and instead I get the thumbnail like images only for each gallery.

How can I retain the text next to each gallery thumbnail without showing the error at the top of the page?

Lastly, I don’t remember whether the border around each gallery is default or my own styling… but I should be able to figure this one out.)

    Thank you,
    JF

@josefus-flavius – I would recommend changing the inserted display to use the Basic Extended Album. This should correct the issues you are seeing.

    Thanks!

@photocrati Thank you for replying. But, I’m unable to follow your recommendation — I try but do not get the desired results.

As I mentioned, when I change the settings of the Basic Extended Album to “Default” the description text no longer displays alongside the gallery thumbnail on the Main Page — I get only the thumbnail.

I would like the gallery description to display on the Main Page.

Would you please provide step-by-step instructions on how I do this?

    Thank you,
    JF

@josefus-flavius – Using the default Basic Extended Album with its default (read: blank) template should work and accomplish what you are describing.

Please send us a Bug Report (https://imagely.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a better look under the page at your site.

Please include as many details as you can about your site and the issue at hand so we can move on this as fast as possible.

    Thanks!

Thank you again for replying. But it would be a lot easier if you walked me thru the settings, as I asked for earlier.

For example, the current version has settings for BOTH Basic Compact Album AND for Basic Extended Album. As best as I can tell, both are in effect — I am not aware of a place where I am to select one of these two. Of course, it’s possible that I’m missing something, but that’s precisely why I asked for your help. But your last reply, the same as before, might assume that I know far more than I actually do. (On the other hand, I used this plugin when it was originally developed and had no such problems…)

I just revised the settings under both the Basic and the Extended Album settings section, following your instructions. Unfortunately, no change. Here’s what I get:

    1. When I select Default, or Blank (“No Template Selected”) and I select Yes for “Display Descriptions,” I get only thumbnails on the Main Page listing the albums, without the descriptions.

    2. When I select Legacy Album Extend (for both the Basic and the Extended Album settings), I get the desired look — a thumbnail and the description, for each album — but I get the error: the listing of the first album name above the first album box-border. Just so you understand, this is why I wrote you originally, last week.

So, we are back to square one. Where would you like to go from here?

    Thank you again,
    JF

@josefus-flavius – I asked for a bug report because I think the fastest and easiest way to sort out this issue is to see first-hand exactly what you are using for various settings under the Gallery menu as well as the specific options you are using for the album display.

In short, although possible, you should not use the album-extend.php template with the Basic Compact Album display type (NextGEN Legacy templates are only included as backward compatibility items); as in this case, the most correct approach is to use the Basic Extended Album display type which should accomplish what you are looking for. Now, if there have been modifications to the legacy templates then that changes a lot of the perspective and most of these details are simply not clearly discernible from a front-facing view.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
