Same problem here. After I upgraded my plugins, mailpoet update didn’t let me to load my site. After changing the directory name of mailpoet, the site loads but I lost mailpoet.

Please advise. I may have to switch to another newsletter plugin.

    Hi Lucius,

Do you also see a white screen, with only:

    Error establishing a database connection

No I only see a white screen and the website taking forever to load. It’s fixed now for me for some reason it fixed itself somehow. I can load the website again with Mailpoet working. How about you?

I have still disabled mailpoet, it was the second time in two weeks.
So I let mailpoet disabled for a while ??

    Hey hey @pahedomotica

That’s likely a host issue, not a MailPoet issue. If you’re on a shared host, it was likely a high-traffic/high-resource time when you updated. You’ve got a couple of options to handle this when it happens.
    1. Wait until a low-demand time to run your updates.
    2. Install the latest version of MailPoet via FTP instead of using the WordPress updater.

If you get another white screen/db connection error when updating, try step two before you deactivate MailPoet or rename the folder, it should prevent this issue.

    Hi wsija,

    Thanks for the tips!
I hope it never happens again ??
