We recently setup Mailpoet to integrate with Memberpress. In Memberpress settings we have enabled MailPoet and have enabled the opt-in checkbox for users who are registering through Memberpress to opt-in to our mailing list in MailPoet. So far the opting in is working, new users are showing up in the appropriate list, but the new signups are not receiving a sign-up confirmation email automatically so they are listed as unsubscribed. I can manually resend the confirmation email but it is not sending automatically after they are added to the list.

  • I have completed the setup of MailPoet and started on the process of integrating it with MemberPress when I ran across the opt-in issue referred in the original post in Step 6:

    https://docs.memberpress.com/article/86-mailpoet

Login to your MailPoet account, navigate to the “Sign Up Confirmation” tab, and set Enable signup Confirmation to No, as shown below.

NOTE: If you’re using the MailPoet paid version sending service, this may not be an option for you. That’s because the Signup Confirmation is required when using MailPoet’s Sending Service. To avoid it, you’ll need to switch MailPoet to a manual SMPT sending service like SendGrid, MailGun, or Amazon SES.

Why would it be necessary to disable confirmation? Does MailPoet hold up the completion of the membership purchase pending confirmation? I am totally mystified.

I contacted MemberPress support to see if they could offer any information. They replied with this comment:

Unfortunately, when users sign up for membership and you have this option in MailPoet enabled, our MailPoet integration might not work and users won’t be added to MailPoet and their status will not be updated. MailPoet is the only email marketing tool that requires third-party email tool so you might use one of the other email marketing tools with our integration: Email Marketing Addons.

Both MemberPress and MailPoet are widely used but there appears to be a lack of cooperation between the plugins. I would expect that a list signup coming from a MemberPress subscription would be sufficient confirmation.

It is odd, the memberpress users are getting added to the mailpoet list but none of them are subscribed because they are not getting the confirmation email that mailpoet requires to start sending them our newsletter. So the integration is basically useless.

    Hi there @joanlaura404 @taastrategies,

As you’ve found, when sending with the MailPoet Sending Service, the double opt-in / sign-up confirmation is required — there’s no option to disable it:
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/128-signup-confirmation-double-opt-in-feature

If MemberPress’ integration requires that you disable the confirmation email for it to work, then you would need to use a different sending method, as described in their instructions:
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/135-the-send-with-tab

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

    Hi there @joanlaura404 and @taastrategies,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
