Mailgun The parameters passed to the API were invalid

    I wanted to reach out to you to see if others that have been using Mailgun.com API been seeing the same issues.

    I manage over 150 WP sites and I been seeing for past several months emails being sent out like this:

    The error is saying that the API being passed is invalid. And I have double-checked the API and that isn’t the case at all. In fact, I can send a TEST Email right after that happens and it will send successfully via Mailgun.

    This morning I open up my monitoring email and there must be 40 emails with this same issue on 40 different sites that seem to work fine and all tested fine before (I or one of my team set up Post SMTP to Mailgun API).

    So I believe the chance of the API being incorrect is 0%, at least what I have installed. Maybe the entire API isn’t being passed for some strange reason by Post SMTP?

    This all started when we started moving our WordPress sites to Convesio.com. Notice the email header is coming as a last-ditch effort from the [email protected] When things are working normally that does NOT happen.

    There is one site that this seems to happen to the most (PM and I will let you know which one). I just checked the API moments ago by sending a Test Email and was successful.
    After sending I did set up a Fall Back using the Mailgun.com SMTP, let’s see if this helps, I will be monitoring.

    EDITED to add this: One other Post SMTP email error showing was this:

    “No body specified”

    But all the others were the
    “The parameters passed to the API were invalid”

    Since this issue seems to be getting worse, I felt I needed to reach out to you.

    Just following up on this. See my email reply.
    What I found was the WPMUDEV Defender Pro plugin was sending emails not formatted correctly. Once I deactivated that plugin the issue has resolved itself.

    Well, I thought this issue was resolved. It appears the Mailgun API isn’t working at all now.
    The old fashion SMTP is working, but not able to send via the Mailgun API, keep getting this message:

    The parameters passed to the API were invalid. Check your inputs!
