    Hey SMTPs

I am runing this plugin on a multisite. Site #1 seems to work.

I have the same SMTP settings for site #2 but for a new site mail. Test mail goes through correctly so DKIM Dmarc and SPF seems alright. Test mail lands in inbox.

I have created a contact form in WP Forms. Whenever I send a message from here it dumps in spam as a mailer deamon. It seems that mail get sent over Gmail, which is not the setup I have in WP mail SMTP:

    host?gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com?[142.250.110.26]
? ? SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
    ? ? 550-5.7.26 Unauthenticated email from?gmail.com?is not accepted due to domain’s
? ? 550-5.7.26 DMARC policy. Please contact the administrator of?gmail.com?domain
? ? 550-5.7.26 if this was a legitimate mail. To learn about the DMARC initiative,
    ? ? 550-5.7.26 go to
    ? ? 550 5.7.26??https://support.google.com/mail/?p=DmarcRejection?ffacd0b85a97d-369e3834ae5si1357386f8f.889 – gsmtp

I was suspecting the txt record google site verification to be the issue, so I deleted that record from DNS. Problem persists. I reviewed the WP mail SMTP settings again and as test mail shows, things seem correct.

I am puzzled …. why does it work for site#1 but not site #2?

Any ideas what I have done wrong and how to fix?

Thank you – Great plugin btw and it works really cool across a multisite apart from above ??

  • Hi @hebhansen,

Thank you for reaching out and for the kind words about our plugin.

I’m so sorry about the issue you are facing with your emails. When we’ve faced such issues, here are some possible causes and steps to resolution:

    1. Force from Email: Please ensure you have the Force from Email feature enabled in WP Mail SMTP. This ensures all your emails from your site are sent using your WP Mail SMTP settings.

    2. Different “From” Email Address: Ensure that the “From” email address used in WPForms matches the one set up in WP Mail SMTP. If they differ, the emails might not be authenticated correctly, leading to DMARC policy issues.

    3. Consistent Plugin Settings: Double check and verify that the SMTP settings are identical across both sites. Even slight differences can affect email delivery.

    4. Testing and Logs: Use WP Mail SMTP’s email logs to see if there’s a difference in how emails are processed on site #2 compared to site #1.?

I hope this helps. Thanks ??

    Hi @nasanansi

    1. I have forced the from mail, and that seems to have fixed the issue
    2. I do not see any settings for from mail in WP Forms? I believe this is what I saw, but how to set?
    3. Across the 2 sites from email differs as they are both top-level domains. Site 1 main site forced email is not set. Site seems to work. Site 2 from email is now forced. Now working…. Does that sound accurate? – SMTP settings are the same with different user ad pass sign in as the email per site differs.
    4. I will leave it as is for now and keep an eye on things….

    Thx for assisting. It’s appreciated

Please let me know if the catch all mail inside WP > Settings should be the same used in WP mail SMTP > settings or they can be different?
