Thanks for reaching out. This discrepancy could be the case if a contact in MailChimp resubscribed themselves to the list after originally making their purchase in WooCommerce having not selected the “subscribe to list” checkbox. For instance, the contact may have initially not selected the checkbox, made a purchase, but then later subscribed to the MailChimp list through other means.

With that being said, there could be a few different factors at play. I might suggest contacting MailChimp’s Support Team to investigate further into this, as they have access to tools to look at your specific account information.

Thanks, but there are no other ways to join that list. And that user is not the only one, I have multiple examples.

I took some time to test this in our own testing environment and was unfortunately able to replicate the behavior when making a test purchase. That being said, I can gather a bit more information to make sure we’re covering everything we can:

– What is the specific step-by-step workflow these affected contacts are taking from joining the list to having a “0” status in WooCommerce?
– Can you share your site’s WooCommerce System Status Report?

Thanks for your patience over the weekend. I apologize for the typo in my last post here. I am not able to replicate this behavior on my side, I meant to say:

I’m having the same issue. It seems since the last plugin update on around September 25th – every customer is added as subscribed even if mailchimp_woocommerce_is_subscribed is set to 0

I’m able to replicate this behavior. I simply fill out the check out form fields, uncheck the subscribe to newsletter box and place the order. I look in the backend of mailchimp in the corresponding list and it shows the email addressed as subscribed.

I apologize for the delay on our end. It seems there was a blip in our notification setup and we missed your post. Thanks for sharing these details and following up!

I was able to take some time to test this out on our testing environment and was unfortunately unable to reproduce this behavior still. To get a bit further in replicating, I looked over the provided System Status Report and noticed that the site does not quite meet the minimum requirements to run the plugin, which can sometimes lead to unexpected behavior.

The MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin defers to WooCommerce’s minimum system requirements which includes PHP 7+ and MySQL 5.6+. I noticed this site is running PHP 5.6 and MySQL 5.5.57. I’m afraid it will be necessary to upgrade to meet these system requirements in order to troubleshoot things further from this point.

Any updates regarding this problem?

Im having the same problem and it started by the end of September.

mailchimp_woocommerce_is_subscribed is set to 0 – but customer still subscribed to list. Very frustrating when Mailchimp send my welcome email to customers that have chosen not to subscribe. I have to manually unsub them from list.
