    Just a quick question:

Can I use this plugin (free version) to integrate a landing page with Mailchimp?

    Thank you.

    Hey @kayten1,

Yes, you can use the Mailchimp widget on your landing page. The Mailchimp widgets come in the free version of Mighty Addons.

Let me know if you need help with anything else.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for repying, Akash.
Before I go ahead and install Elementor, can I just check that this will not change anything on my site?
I want to create a few landing pages, but I don’t want to use Elementor for anything else (not right now, at least), and I just want to check that installing it won’t affect my site. Hopefully, I will just be able to use it on the specific page I’m building (the landing page).

    @kayten1,

Yes, you can use elementor without it conflicting with the old pages/posts you had created.

When creating the landing page, just create a page and click “Edit with Elementor“, so it’ll open with elementor editor always not with Classic/Gutenberg editor of WordPress.

Don’t click Edit with Elementor on old pages, it’ll convert the page to elementor page.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks.

Sorry to bother you again, but I need a little help.
I see a whole stack of YouTube videos about Elementor (some of the quite long), but if you could help with a few things it would save me checking them all out.
How do I change the background, e.g. if I want the page to have a particular colour?
If I start a new page it has a header and a footer. Is is possible to start without these, just a blank page (they wouldn’t be on a landing page and that’s what I aim to build)?
Only two little questions, but I’m sure there were other things I was wondering about. If I think of them I’ll ask again. And thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.

Okay, I found a video that answers those two questions:

HOW TO CREATE A LANDING PAGE WORDPRESS AND ELEMENTOR

It probably helps in a lot more ways, but I haven’t watched it all yet.

Feels a bit strange to me, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it before long. If you have any tips, or you know of a really useful video, please let me know.

    Hey @kayten1

Glad that you found the solutions on your own. Just to be sure I’m going to answer the questions you asked:

    1. How do I change the background, e.g. if I want the page to have a particular color?

Go to settings (Gear icon at the bottom-left corner) > Style Tab and you’ll find the styling settings for the page.

    2. If I start a new page it has a header and a footer. Is it possible to start without these, just a blank page (they wouldn’t be on a landing page and that’s what I aim to build)?

Go to settings > Settings Tab > Page layout > Select Canvas from the dropdown

    Resources for learning Elementor

I think the people behind Elementor makes wonderful videos for beginners which you can find here.

Their documentation is helpful and blogs which cover varied topics on Website creation through Elementor.

These are the best resources I know to get started.

Please do let me know if you need any other help. ??

    Thanks,

First, Akash, thank you for taking the time to help me out, I really appreciate it and I’d be lost without it.

I’ve been working with one of the videos and putting together a landing page, but it’s not much to look at (and I haven’t quite finished it yet anyway).

Couple of questions you might be able to help me with, if you have time:

1 Would it be possible to upload a wide image as a background and then work on the foreground so it overlays it?

2 I was wondering if it’s possible to create a box image, with background colour and border (e.g. in Canva) then upload it and put your text and the input form inside the box.

    It’s all good, @kayten1

    Answers to question respectively:

    1. Would it be possible to upload a wide image as a background and then work on the foreground so it overlays it?

Elementor does give the option to set images on the section and apply an overlay on them. Check out this video for this.

    2. I was wondering if it’s possible to create a box image, with background colour and border (e.g. in Canva) then upload it and put your text and the input form inside the box.

Yeah, you can do that. You just have to play with styling. When starting out, it’s better to go with pre-made layouts and modify rather than creating from the start. And for that, you can use the Mighty Addons library.

When creating a new page, you’ll find the MA icon, clicking on it will open the library of pre-made sections and pages which you can import with a single click.

Let me know, how it goes.

Need a bit of help here Akash. I can barely see what’s happening on that video and there’s no sound. I haven’t been able to set a background image.

Could you please give me brief instructions how to do it?

    Thanks, my friend.

    Plugin Author MightyThemes

    (@mightythemes1)

    @kayten1,

Here are the instructions. Click on the desired section where you want to set the background image > Go to Style Tab > Go to Background > Set an image on Background through Classic Mode > Then go to Background Overlay in the same Style Tab > And then you can set color or images as overlay.

Let me know if you face any issues.

    Thanks,

Sorry Akash, I should have been more specific. What I was looking for was how to put a background image on the entire page (or the screen), rather than on an element in the page.

    Plugin Author MightyThemes

    (@mightythemes1)

    Hey @kayten1

To put a background on the whole page just follow the below steps:

Click settings (Gear icon at the bottom-left corner) > Go to Style Tab > Select Classic Mode in Background Type option.

And select any image you want to set on the body’s background.

And about setting the overlay on the body, Elementor doesn’t give you the functionality to set overlay on the body’s background.

Let me know if you face any other issues. Thanks.

Akash, you’ve been very helpful and I do appreciate it, but I’m still not clear on a few things. It might not be relevant, but I’m almost 70 (and at times like this I really do feel it!), and maybe that’s why I have trouble grasping things like this.

Firstly, I was thinking of creating an image of a white ‘box’ with a nice border so that I could use Elementor to put the text in it (this would be the main text box of the landing page). I did that but I don’t seem able to put a “Text Editor” inside the box image. Maybe this isn’t possible, since it’s putting one element (the ext Editor) inside another (the image). If that’s the case I suppose I’d have to create the image including the text inside the box. If it is possible, I’d also like to put a button inside the box, but I’m guessing this is a no-no?

The other thing is this: you say “And about setting the overlay on the body, Elementor doesn’t give you the functionality to set overlay on the body’s background”, and I don’t really know what you mean by that (what is overlay?). Unless you mean exactly what I was just saying, i.e. maybe it means it’s not possible to ‘nest’ an element inside another element.

Sorry to keep bothering you like this but I don’t have any other way to find these things out.

    Hey @kayten1

I totally understand, for beginners elementor does seem confusing. The best source for you to get things fast is to use Elementor’s Support. They have the best resources to learn elementor from which I’ve listed in the previous replies.

It’ll be much easier for you to see their videos and understand rather than understanding them through texts.

So, to answer your questions, you need to set an image on the section background and after that, you can insert any number of elements inside the section and it’ll create an image box in which you can insert elements.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks.

Hi Akash, I’ve been trawling through a lot of videos, and practically all of them just seem to add to my confusion. They just don’t seem to address the most simple, basic questions that I have in mind.

The best I’ve seen is this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43j6h3oCm0U
which is very good, and thanks to it I’m understanding Elementor better now. But it’s from 2018 and there are things in it that don’t tally with the Elementor of today. Such as, she clicks on the section handle and it opens up to three parts … which would be very useful, but it doesn’t happen now, not when I click on it anyway.

She has a great voice and speaking style, very easy to follow. Most others speak way too fast and don’t really explain things properly.

Do you happen to know if there Is there a more up-to-date version of this video? I think it would help me a whole lot.
