• I have got a fatal error on a site

Fatal error: Class ‘NS_Widget_MailChimp’ not found in /home3/holwellf/public_html/johnnymartin/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 324

I think I had just updated to WordPress 3.1.2 and was uploading a backup plugin when it occurred

    Any ideas?

    Jill

Managed to get in to the folder on the server and delete the mailchimp plugin and the site is back to normal.

Not a long term fix though so would still appreciate some help with fixing this.

    Cheers

    Jill

    Hey Jill!

I think I followed up with your concerns in the all of the other posts except for this original one, haha!

Just to cover my bases, though, I was unfortunately unable to replicate the same issue that you were experiencing. I have installed the most current version of WordPress (3.1.2) as well as the most up-to-date MailChimp plugin (1.2.4).

It sounds like it could be a conflict with either the theme or a specific other plugin.

Let us know if we can further assist. We’re happy to help!

Hi JillW & mc_nate, I’ve just tonight had the same problem as Jill with fatal error msg concerning the latest version of WordPress and latest Mailchimp plugin. It occurred when I uploaded the mailchimp plugin:

Fatal error: Class ‘NS_Widget_MailChimp’ not found in /home7/crickety/public_html/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 325

Jill mentions: ‘get in to the folder on the server and delete the mailchimp plugin’ – as a novice, I’m in widgets.php but unsure what to delete, the whole file or certain lines of code? tried deleting line 325 but that just prompts another line deletion.

Launching cricket site monday and it has now disappeared, any help would ease the blood pressure! Thanks, John/CricketYorkshire

Try as I might, I am still unable to replicate this same issue. What specific version of the MailChimp plugin are you using?

While I don’t know all of the ins and outs of your specific WordPress setup, if you delete the MailChimp plugin (the whole folder) from the “plugins” folder (“…/var/www/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/”), that should take care of it. WordPress should be able to deactivate it automatically for you from there.

mc_nate, thanks a million for the super-quick reply and having followed your advice, all is restored and I can breathe a huge sigh of relief.

The plugin was the latest in the WP directory, Mailchimp by James Lafferty, version 0.8.

    Thanks again.

Ahh… That plugin is actually not developed by MailChimp, but rather by James Lafferty.

Here’s a link to our official plugin:

    Hi guys,
Sorry for being slow off the mark on this.

John – glad you were able to resolve the problem by deleting the folder. Big relief all round when the site reappears – I know! I hope the launch goes well on Monday.

mc_nate – yep my plug in was the same one by James Lafferty. Should we contact the developer to let them know? I’m sure there will lots of other people getting the same error.

    Cheers

John – not sure if I can post this here but I don’t know how else to contact you. As a complete aside I was wondering if you have access to a couple of cricket photos that I might be able to use.
Looking for a close up of a ball / bat / stumps type pictures.

Got a holiday cottage in the Peak District – Deep Mid-Wicket – no prize for guessing it’s location in the village. Just wanting a couple more cricket photos for the website.

If not no worries – just thought I would ask.

Hope your weekend isn’t too stressful!

    Cheers
    Jill

Yeah, it’d be best to contact them directly. :\
