I activated the mailchimp plugin. I followed their instructions. I created the form. I copied the code “snippet” and pasted it into a text widget under “text”. At first, it seemed to work. When I reloaded the page, the page was broken. Like, really broken.

Only one half of it is still present, and it’s all skewed. All the photos are gone. Most of the text is gone.

Then, I opened it with Elementor. It seemed okay. I removed the code “snippet” and saved the changes. When I got back into the view mode, the page was still broken.

I checked the other pages. They seem to be okay.

    What do I do?

    UPD:

I found some tips on the web, and, following one of them, did this:

    1. Activated a different theme.
    2. Deleted the theme I’ve been using (Twenty Seventeen).
    3. Installed Twenty Seventeen again.
    4. Activated it.

    No effect.

When I press “Customize,” I see a lot of garbage code in the right section of the screen, followed by the header and a few sections of my broken home page.

Okay, I wanted to record another update, but now the forum won’t let me. “ERROR: You do not have permission to edit that topic.”

    How quaint.

    Anyway:

Since I can see the HOME page just fine when I pull it into Elementor, I decided to create a bunch of templates (because only the paid version of Elementor creates a template from the ENTIRE page).

I created 18 templates, and they constitute my entire HOME page.

Now I have a good mind to:

    1. Create a new page, and call it HOME-TEMP. Pull the templates into it, creating an exact replica of the original HOME page.

    2. Delete the old HOME page.

    3. Rename the HOME-TEMP page HOME.

Problem is, I’m not altogether clear on what this might do to the links and menus – or to this surprisingly fragile theme.

    Any ideas?

    Hello,

Can you please share with us which version of our plugin you are using?

Also, are you using the latest version of Elementor and does disabling our plugin resolve the issue?

MC4WP, which I downloaded yesterday. The free version.

As for Elementor: the latest free version, probably, downloaded less than a week ago.

    NOTHING resolves the issue.

No, deactivating mailchimp does not resolve anything.

The page is still in the same state it was last night. Which is a shame.

    Ah, yes:

    Mailchimp: version 4.7.5

    Elementor: version 2.9.2

    [SOLVED]

The excerpts plugin was screwing everything up.

I deactivated it, pulled the HOME page back into Elementor, updated, and now the page looks okay.

I’ll try to reinstall mailchimp now.
