• Hi

I wanted to publish my RSS feed via Mailchimp. The thing is it’s not being picked up by them when I publish new posts.

They say:”The MailChimp RSS to email system requires that a <pubdate> or <builddate> be included in every RSS feed to trigger an email. “

But they can’t tell me how to make this happen.

I have no idea at all.

    Can someone please help?

    My website is https://www.knitthecity.com

    Thanks very much

  • WordPress feeds (including yours) already have a <pubDate> for every post and a general <lastBuildDate> for the entire feed.

    Really?

Mailchimp say they have checked and it isn’t in there:

The MailChimp RSS to email system requires that a <pubdate> or <builddate> be included in every RSS feed to trigger an email. THat publication information is what tells our system that there are posts to email. Without that information, the email just sits there in wait. It looks like this blog is missing those tags. We can see that there is author information and some date information but the code isn’t set up for MailChimp to access the feed and pull in an email.

Well…that’s their problem. Here’s the <pubDate> from your most recent post pulled strait from your site’s feed (https://www.knitthecity.com/feed/):

    <pubDate>Tue, 30 Aug 2011 09:30:13 +0000</pubDate>

You can see the raw xml if, after navigating to the feed, you right click and hit “View Page Source” or any similar option. Goggle Chrome doesn’t have a built-in viewer, so it shows the raw xml all the time.

Oh I see. So it is there! Well then I’m going to go back to them and ask what on earth they’re on about.

Thanks for that. Very useful to know where to find the raw XML. You are very helpful. ??

    Hey there!

Just wanted to touch base here, as well. It looks like our support chimps were able to get you squared away?

Feel free to give us a shout if you need anything at all!

    Cheers.
