Mailchimp account connected but not receiving new emails.

Hi,
I built a slide-in that works and collects emails. I can store them locally easily enough and have integrated my Mailchimp account using the proper key. I can see that it is connected but when anyone fills out the slide-in it doesn’t send their information to Mailchimp. When I check the email list it says nothing for the error and says “Member status – Member could not be subscribed”
Any help is appreciated.
