I have checked almost 3-4 websites and every website’s contact form is showing error “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”

This happend after I have updated wordpress, before that the mail was working fine, even we have checked with SMTP and other PHP Mailer all working fine.

I had the same problem and I could not solve it.

When I updated the contact form 7 plugin and ReCaptcha V3, all the “forms” on my website stopped working and now, they send an orange message that says: “An error occurred while sending the message”.

Takayuki suggests reviewing the FAQ section where it says:
The second possible cause is that the submission of the form is under suspicion of spam. In this case, the error message would be surrounded by an ORANGE border line.

I tried to access through several computers, different IPS, different email users and write “subject” and real “messages” and it was not possible. The error continues to appear. ??

The question is: “The error is in Contact Form 7 or ReCapcha V3?

PROVISIONAL SOLUTION FOR ME: Return to an earlier version of the Contact form 7 plugin (5.0.3)

    ??

See Contact Form 7 5.1.1 – theme needs to properly loads JavaScript in the footer area of each page.

Switch temporarily (nothing will be lost when you switch back) to a WP default theme to see if the problem goes away.

If this fixes the problem & you can’t get your theme fixed, you might try Contact Form 7 – reCaptcha v2. Once installed and configured it offers the same reCaptcha functionality you are used to in previous versions of Contact Form 7.

If using default theme doesn’t stop the error, you could have a general WP email sending problem. See If You Have Email Problems – most people that work carefully through this list of email sending issues are able to solve their particular problems.

I have the same problem with my CF7 (v5.1.1) emails “being treated as spam” (orange box) and have been doing a host of things as recommended in all the various forums and sites to try to resolve the issue with no success. I have replaced reCaptcha with HoneyPot. I have tested my site’s ability to send emails through Post SMTP and all tests are sent and received with no issues. I’m not sure what to try next. Any further insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I finally rolled back CF7 to the previous version by using WP Rollback plugin and now the issue is resolved.
