Mail Requests wiped on deactivation of plugin

First of all, I have to say that I absolutely love this plugin. It works great and users are very happy to leave their email, which is great.
The problem I face is that each time the plugin is (briefly) deactivated to do debugging, all existing mail requests are removed and cant be recovered.
Is there a way to get it to permanently store the requests in the database and not wipe them on a new activation?
